What is eWonders?

eWonders is an app for mobile device users to build interactive presentations without coding or scripting. You simply drag the images onto the stage and choose the desired responses. These interactive presentations are called Wonders, and they can be games, graphic novels, travelogues, scrapbooks, comic strips, instructions, teaching tools, etc. Once a Wonder is created, it can be published for all the registered users of eWonders, or it can be shared exclusively with a community of family and friends.

eWonders is also a place to enjoy the creativities of others. A player of eWonders can visit a virtual world full of beauty, intrigue, mystery, challenges, information, and knowledge - all free.

Starting eWonders

Segment Selection There are four segments in eWonders: Library, Options, Build, and Play. When eWonders is started, you may tap on one of these buttons to enter a segment. Their functions are described below.

Library

Manage Wonders The Library stores three types of resources, Wonders, Backgrounds and Items. They are selected through the three buttons on the top left corner of the Library. Wonders is the default mode. In the Wonders mode, Wonders can be loaded, removed, published, or selected to be played or built. These tasks of managing wonders are done through six buttons on the right side of wonders storage bin list. Please read the publish guide before publishing your Wonder. The Library also has three buttons on the bottom left corner that can switch to another segment at any time.

Manage Images Backgrounds mode prepares background images for the building process. eWonders can collect images from three sources: Photos, GOeWonders, or the Internet. Photos selection is the default setting, and the images are retrieved from the device camera roll. GOeWonders selection connects eWonders to our server, and you can search and browse through thousands of images provided by us. We will continue to add images to our database so it can be a great resource for creating your Wonder. Finally, the internet selection allows you to import any the image available on the internet. Step by step instructions on importing a background image are described in the link here.

Each background image can have up to 10 bundled item images, and they can also be imported using the three sources described above. A bundled item images can only be used on its associated background image, and they are listed when their associated background image is selected. Step by step instructions on importing a bundled item image are described in the link here.

Items mode works similarly to Backgrounds except that only item images will be imported to the Library. It also has the same three sources for importing, and once imported, they can be used with any background image. Step by step instructions on importing a common item image are described in the link here.

Play

Play Main View Play is the segment for players to enjoy Wonders created by self or others in a place called “theater”. The theater consists of a stage, an inventory array, and buttons. A selected Wonder is displayed on the stage one scene at a time. You touch the stage to interact with various items. Sometimes you need to drag an item from the inventory to complete a task. When all tasks are successfully completed, you will be transported to the next scene until the entire Wonder is completed. The Hint button is located on the right side of the inventory array. It gives you tips when you get stuck with a task. The three buttons on the left allow you to exit Play and enter one of the other segments. For more details see play guide

Build

Build Main View Build shares the same theater and stage interface as Play. On the lower left corner, there are three buttons to jump to other segments. At lower center, an image array will replace the inventory array in the Play segment. These are background or item images you need to build your Wonder, and they can be toggled by pressing on the Background/Items button on the lower right corner. To build a scene, first touch a background image to bring it to the stage. Then switch to item images mode to drag items to the stage. Touch each item on the stage to set up user interactions. You may also add sound effects, hints, and title to a scene by pressing on the Effects button on the lower right corner. When you are satisfied with a scene, tap the Scenes button on the lower right corner to save it. The Scenes view can also restore, delete, create, or edit a scene. For more details see build guide
